What is JubiLeeds Big Bike Ride?
14 colleagues from the Society's Sales and Operations Team will be taking part in the JubiLeeds Big Bike Ride during September and October 2012. The team will be cycling between 60 of our branches to mark the Diamond Jubilee year and also to raise money for four charities.
Collectively, the team will cycle over 1,300 miles - a huge challenge! Our goal is to raise £10,000 and we need your support to help us reach this target. Look out for posters of the team in your local branch (click here to see the poster).
The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust (Registered Charity No. 1145640) - is raising funds throughout the Jubilee year which will be used to deliver projects across the Commonwealth that enrich the lives and opportunities of all citizens, providing a lasting legacy for Her Majesty The Queen (this charity will receive 70% of the funds raised).
Martin House Children's Hospice (Registered Charity No. 517919) - provides care and support, free of charge, to families in which there is a child or children with short life expectancy. Its aim is to provide a home from home with a lively, friendly atmoshphere where children and their families can enjoy the best quality of life (this charity will receive 10% of the funds raised).
Tiny Lives Special Care Baby Unit, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle Upon Tyne (Registered Charity No. 700510) - specialises in saving babies' lives. Every year 600 premature or ill newborn babies are admitted to the hospital from across the North East, with up to 34 babies being looked after at any one time. Many of these tiny babies can be extremely ill or require intensive care. Tiny Lives was set up to support the Newcastle Neonatal Service by raising funds to buy extras not provided by the NHS (this charity will receive 10% of funds raised).
St Gemma's Hospice (Registered Charity No. 1015941) - provides specialist medical and nursing care for people with life threatening illnesses, predominantly cancer, along with support for their families. Care is provided in the In-Patient Unit by the community care nurses, in the Day Hospice, or as an Out-Patient (this charity will receive 10% of funds raised).

There are three ways to donate - in person at your local branch, online using the JustGiving website, or by text message from your mobile phone.
The JustGiving and mobile text facilities have been set up to receive donations for The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust only, with a target amount of £7,000 for the charity. If you want your donation to go to the other charities as well, you will need to donate in branch.
In a Society branch
You can make a simple cash donation in one of the collection tins in our branches - donations made this way cannot be gift-aided.
If you do want to gift-aid your donation, you can also do this by sponsoring either a branch or an individual using the sponsor form in the branch. Simply provide your name, address (including post code), amount donated and tick the 'Gift Aid' box. The charities can then claim gift aid on your donation. You can find out more about gift aid on the HRM Revenue website:
Online
You can also donate via our JustGiving page, which is set up to receive donations purely for The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust:
If donating via JustGiving, you can also 'gift aid' your donation by selecting the tick box.
By text message on your mobile phone
To donate by mobile phone, text "JLBS60" and the amount that you want to donate (£1, £2, £5 or £10) to 70070. There is no charge to send text messages to/from this number.
You will receive a follow up text detailing how you can 'Gift Aid' this donation if you want to - this is not mandatory.
