What should you bring?



To make sure everything's safe, secure and legal, we'll always do a few different identity checks when you apply for a Cash ISA in branch. That means looking at physical identity documents.

Please remember to bring:

  • Proof of your National Insurance number (e.g. National Insurance card or a payslip).

Then one document from each of the following groups:

Group A - Identity document



  • UK, EU, EEA or Swiss Passport
  • Current UK Photo Driving licence (full or provisional)
  • Shotgun Licence
  • Firearms Certificate
  • EU, EEA or Swiss Member State Identity Card
  • Northern Ireland Voter's Card
  • Blue Disabled Driver's Pass
  • Biometric Residence Cards (for permanent residence).


Group B - Address document



An original or certified copy showing your full name and current home address or date of birth, including:

  • UK Driving licence (including paper)
  • Benefits Agency letter confirming rights to state benefits (including DWP, Job Centre Plus, State Pension, Local Authority Housing)
  • Solicitor written confirmation of house move
  • Instrument of a UK Court Appointment
  • Initial deposit by personal cheque (drawn on a regulated UK bank account in your name).


We also accept these, up to 12 months old:

  • HMRC tax notification (not a P45 or P60)
  • Mortgage statement
  • UK Council Tax bill (valid for this year).


We also accept these, up to 3 months old (but not printed from the internet):

  • Bank or building society statement (include a sort code)
  • Credit card statement
  • Utility bill or prepayment certificate.

What should you bring?



To make sure everything's safe, secure and legal, we'll always do a few different identity checks when you apply for a Children's Account in branch. We'll need to see physical ID for both the child and the adult signatory or signatories.

For both the child and adult signatory or signatories on the account, we'll need one document from Group A and one from Group B.

Group A - Identity document



  • UK, EU, EEA or Swiss Passport
  • Current UK Photo Driving licence (full or provisional)
  • Shotgun Licence
  • Firearms Certificate
  • EU, EEA or Swiss Member State Identity Card
  • Northern Ireland Voter's Card
  • Blue Disabled Driver's Pass
  • Biometric Residence Cards (for permanent residence).


Group B - Address document



An original or certified copy, which shows your full name and current home address, of:

  • UK issued Birth Certificate
  • UK Driving licence (including paper)
  • Benefits Agency letter confirming rights to state benefits (including DWP, Job Centre Plus, State Pension, Local Authority Housing)
  • Solicitor written confirmation of house move.


We also accept these, up to 12 months old:

  • HMRC tax notification (not a P45 or P60)
  • Mortgage statement
  • UK Council Tax bill (valid for this year).


We also accept these, up to 3 months old (but not printed from the internet):

  • Bank or building society statement (include a sort code)
  • Credit card statement
  • Utility bill or prepayment certificate.


If you're not able to provide a document from Group A and Group B for the child, in exceptional circumstances we will accept either:

  • One Group A and one Group B document from the applicant's parent or legal guardian
  • Two documents from Group B.
