What you need to know

Buy to Let criteria - key points

For Buy to Let, Portfolio Buy to Let, Holiday Let and Houses in Multiple Occupation ICR and stress rate calculations, please see the Product Guide or Assessment of Rental Income on the Criteria Page.

  1. No minimum income requirement (evidence of income is still required).
  2. Maximum portfolio size of 10 mortgaged rental properties, irrespective of lender.
  3. Maximum of 4 rental properties can be mortgaged with The Society, whether Buy-to-Let, Holiday Let or a combination of both.
  4. No maximum age at end of term.
  5. Please refer to Portfolio products if the applicant has 4 or more mortgaged rental properties.

Step 1Submit an online Decision in Principle in the usual way. If you're not already registered with us you can do so here.

Step 2: Submit a full application including the portfolio landlord declaration form. You’ll need Adobe PDF Reader to complete the form which you can download for free from their website www.adobe.com.

Step 3: Check our current service levels to see approximately how long it will take for your case to be processed. On a small number of applications additional information may be requested.
