St George’s Crypt’s Voucher Scheme Launched in Partnership with Leeds Building Society

Leeds Building Society is marketing St George’s Crypt’s new voucher scheme – entitled Give Me Some Credit – in all its 13 branches in Leeds.

The scheme – which was launched recently to the public by celebrity chef Brian Turner – allows people to buy a book of vouchers at a cost of £5 which can then be handed to people begging as a constructive alternative to handing out money. The scheme – designed by Leeds University student Hannah Tisdale – aims principally to provide for people in need to go to the Crypt and enjoy a three course meal and to engage with staff there to discuss and resolve other issues they might have.

The initiative– set up in partnership with Leeds City Council and West Yorkshire Police – has been heralded as a very welcome and constructive development in addressing an issue which is often very challenging.

Martin Patterson, Fund Raising and PR Director at the Crypt, said , “We are really delighted that our good friends at Leeds Building Society wish to join with us in marketing our vouchers. It is really important that the vouchers are readily accessible to members of the public and this partnership provides this opportunity. We hope many Leeds Building Society customers will want to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Graham Binns, Leeds Building Society’s Regional Sales Manager in Leeds said, “I am delighted that all our 13 branches in Leeds will be supporting this excellent initiative. We understand the issues in the areas around our branches and have a local community feel, and this scheme will encourage our customers to help some of the people who are most in need within these communities.”

The vouchers are available now at Leeds Building Society’s branches in Adel, Armley, Beeston, Chapel Allerton, Crossgates, Garforth, Harehills Road, Headingley, Horsforth, Moortown, Street Lane and Yeadon. They are also on sale at the Society’s Head Office branch, at 105 Albion Street.
