The UK’s 5th largest building society, which has over 700,000 members, has opened a new flagship branch on the High Street in Colchester. The new 1,455sq ft site is one of the largest in its 67 branch network and includes a range of new technology and customer friendly features.

Kim Rebecchi, Sales and Marketing Director said, “I am delighted that we are able to open a new branch in Colchester and create a number of new roles. When we looked for a new location, Colchester was the obvious choice.

“As a mutual, member owned society, we want to support the aspirations of a wide range of borrowers and savers, and deliver outstanding personal service. That is why we have worked hard to create an excellent environment for customers in this branch.

“We have created more private areas for discussions with customers about their financial requirements and improved refreshment facilities. We have also embraced technology and will provide access to iPads and free WiFi, we are using digital advertising displays and have a new video conferencing facility for those customers looking to buy their own home, and who require advice on the best mortgage for them. Furthermore, we have also introduced a market leading exclusive savings product.”

Leeds Building Society has assets of over £10bn and announced record results earlier this year. Residential mortgage lending increased by 35%, to £1.65bn, and the Society helped 5,700 first-time-buyers onto the housing ladder. Savings balances also grew by £384m, to a record £7.74bn.

Kay Harper, Branch Manager at the new branch said, “This is a really exciting development for Leeds Building Society. I am looking forward to welcoming new and existing customers into this modern and vibrant environment, helping them find value and security for their savings and support those customers looking to buy a home.”

For more information, customers can call into the Colchester Branch at 30 High Street, Colchester, CO1 1DB, or call them on 08458 780 024.
