Leeds makes a spooky start to its Children in Need fundraising

Leeds Building Society’s Dewsbury branch made a spooky start to the mutual’s 2013 Children in Need fundraising campaign by holding a Halloween themed cake sale. The entire branch was kitted out with spooky decorations (including the staff!) with some of the costumes including scary witches, black cats, not so scary bumblebees and even X-men’s Wolverine!

Dewsbury branch manager Brian Lander said, “These are a sign of things to come from Dewsbury Branch, the cake sale was to kick start our Children in Need fundraising activities, so there will be much more to come, watch this space! All 65 UK branches of Leeds Building Society will be raising money for Children in Need on 15th November so, if you’re feeling generous, pop in and help us out by donating money to this worthy cause at your local branch on Friday.”

The Society is having a ‘dress down day,’ where staff in Head Office and branches will donate £2 to the Children in Need Appeal to wear their own clothes for the day. For the more adventurous a ‘dress up day’ is taking place, also in return for a £2 donation, with fancy dress encouraged!

Leeds Building Society raised over £11,000 for last year’s appeal (in a combined effort from staff and customers) and Alice Buckley, Finance Administrator at BBC Children in Need said, “Every year we are humbled by the generosity and creativity of our supporters in raising money for thousands of disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK.”
