Leeds Building Society Supports Heart Research UK's Treasure Chest Appeal

A team of forty staff from Leeds Building Society took part in this month's Leeds Half Marathon, raising over £2,000 between local charities in the process. The fundraising total will be split between 'Radio Aire and Magic 828's Cash for Kids', 'St Gemma's Hospice' and 'Martin House Children's Hospice'. The Society had staff, drawn from its head office and branches in the area, taking part in both the Leeds Half Marathon and Corporate Relay events on the day.

The mutual's team at this event was co-ordinated by Damien Briscoe, Leeds Building Society's branch manager in Dewsbury. Damien said, "We had a group of 40 runners of all ages and sizes, ranging from people who have never run in their life to the odd seasoned professional.

"The half marathon and corporate relay teams got some amazing times, and everyone should be really proud. It was a tough 13.1 miles and the weather was a strange one, blistering sunshine and torrential rain!

"We are delighted to have raised over £2,000 between three fantastic local causes of Cash for Kids, St Gemma's Hospice and Martin House Children's Hospice. I would like to thank everyone who sponsored us, and any remaining donations can be made via www.justgiving.com/leedsbuildingsocietyhalfmarathon."
