Leeds team walks Hadrian's Wall this weekend for Teenage Cancer Trust

A team of 14 colleagues from Leeds Building Society are walking the length of Hadrian's Wall, 84 miles from Wallsend to Bowness, over three days this weekend.

The walkers are raising funds on behalf of Teenage Cancer Trust and hope to raise £8,400 - or £100 for every mile they will walk. The 'Hadrian's Walkers' team has incorporated some fun into their arduous challenge by dressing up as Romans for their epic hike.

Trevor Garside, Leeds Building Society's Head of Direct Distribution said: "Every year we undertake a charity challenge to raise money for a national charity. We have all been inspired by Stephen Sutton's story this year and we want to raise as much as we can for Teenage Cancer Trust.

"All our branches our joining in the fundraising effort with their own activities, and are also currently selling Teenage Cancer Trust rubber bracelets to try to increase the donations further."

"We are delighted to be over halfway to our £8,400 fundraising target. Our justgiving address for remaining donations is http://www.justgiving.com/LBShadrianswalkers"

Heather Bowen, Regional Manager for Teenage Cancer Trust (Yorkshire) said: "This is a fantastic challenge, very hard work, but a total achievement for the Leeds Building Society team 'Hadrian's Walkers'. We rely on people taking part in events such as this, and organising their own events, to enable Teenage Cancer Trust to fund desperately needed services for young people with cancer."
