Society’s Wetherby team raises £900 for Parkinson’s UK
Colleagues from Leeds Building Society’s branch in Wetherby have raised more than £900 for Parkinson's UK by taking part in a sponsored walk.
The team ignored the wet weather to complete a nine-mile trail in the grounds of Ripley Castle, north of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
"Despite the weather conditions being against us we all made it back safely, if not a little soggy, with the first of us crossing the line in two and a half hours,” said Lavinia Croft, Branch Manager at the Wetherby branch of Leeds Building Society.
“We held a collection in branch and our members were extremely generous with their support, helping us raise £600 - with matched funding from the Society, the final total will be over £900 for Parkinson's UK.”
These funds will help the charity in its ambition to fund research to advance understanding of Parkinson's and what causes it, and focus on finding new and better treatments to make life easier for people living with Parkinson's.
