Hull branch assistant manager raises £200 for charity

The Assistant Manager at Leeds Building Society’s Hull branch took part in the Race for Life in aid of a cancer charity.

Sharon Sanderson completed the 5k run in 35 minutes, and raised £200 for Cancer Research UK - including £65 in matched funding from Leeds Building Society.

Sharon and hundreds of fellow runners took part in the event at Queen’s Gardens, Queen’s Dock Avenue in Hull. Sharon’s 35-minute finishing time was ten minutes quicker than last year.

She said: “The atmosphere was amazing and it was a sea of pink ladies everywhere I looked! It was a hot day again and people were taking their time to get round the course without becoming fatigued due to the heat.

“I take part in this event every year as, sadly in 2012, I lost my mum to this terrible disease. I know that everyone who has been touched by this awful disease shares my pain and also wants to do their bit to help raise money and awareness of cancer.

“I am delighted to have raised £200 in in total, and would like to thank everyone who has sponsored me and Leeds Building Society for providing matched funding.”
