Leeds Building Society celebrates 50 years in Swansea
Leeds Building Society’s branch in Swansea is inviting customers old and new to join it in celebrating a big birthday.
The Society has been helping the people of Swansea buy the homes they want, and save up for the things that are important to them, since 1966.
To celebrate its 50th birthday the branch, at 16 Union Street in Swansea, is holding a party on Wednesday 27th July.
Leeds Building Society also will be making a birthday donation to three local good causes. Visitors can vote for their favourite charity to decide which receives the largest share.
“Our team will be decorating the branch and giving cakes and goody bags to members and any other locals who want to come by and join in our celebrations,” said Amanda Evans, Leeds Building Society’s Swansea Branch Manager.
“We will also be running a charity vote where customers can vote for one of three local charities. The good causes we have chosen to support are Spinal Muscular Atrophy Support UK, Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres and Ice Cool Kids.
“Voting will open on Wednesday and continue until Friday 12th August. The charities will receive £300, £200 and £100 for first, second and third place respectively.”
Also in attendance in the branch on Wednesday between 11am and 1pm will be ex footballer Lee Trundle, who will be signing autographs and available for photographs in return for a charity donation.
The wife of the late Leeds Building Society development manager, who opened the branch 50 years ago, will also be there on Wednesday.
