Society raises almost £300 for St George’s Crypt

Leeds Building Society joined forces with Legal & General to enter a team in a 7-a-side football tournament. This event, titled Emmerdale Football Tournament & Family Fun Day, took place on Sunday 4th August at Farsley AFC (Pudsey Liberals Club).

In total £285 was raised through spectator ticket and raffle ticket sales and Leeds Building Society paid the £70 entry fee. Special guests on the day included Leeds United legend Eddie Gray and the Lord Mayor of Leeds. The day kicked off at 10 a.m. with entertainment including a bouncy castle, face painting, games, stalls and a grand prize raffle draw.

Graham Binns, Leeds Building Society Regional Sales Manager said, “Our Armley branch manager, Chris Sykes, has spent many hours of his own time to help nurture the Society’s relationship with St George’s Crypt, a local charity that helps to provide food, shelter and support to the homeless population of Leeds. Since joining Armley branch as manager, Chris has worked tirelessly in supporting the charity and his latest piece of work stands him out as someone who is really dedicated to helping others. He organised this 7-a-side football team and raised funds through the sales of tickets to staff members and their families and spent hours of his own time in ensuring everyone was aware of details and timings. He is a credit to himself and Leeds Building Society.”
