Generous Society members help to stock up The People’s Kitchen

Generous members at Leeds Building Society’s branches in the North East have helped a regional homeless charity to stock up its cupboards in the build up to Christmas.

Society colleagues in the region organised a tinned food collection on behalf of The People’s Kitchen, which has been supporting homeless and disadvantaged people in the Newcastle area since 1985.

Members at the mutual’s North East branches in Morpeth, Durham, Blyth, Whitley Bay, North Shields, South Shields, Wallsend, Newcastle and Chester-le-Street, and the Society’s processing centre at Silverlink Business Park, have kindly donated 380 cans.

There were some large totals involved within this collection, with 164 and 124 cans collected in the Morpeth and Blyth branches respectively.

The types of cans donated included store cupboard staples such as soups, beans, tinned tomatoes, as well as pasta and tinned meats.
