Halifax Marathon runner raises £1,000 for a great cause

The manager of our Halifax branch raised £1,000 for a mental health charity by taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon.

Damien Briscoe successfully completed the Marathon in four hours and 17 minutes and raised £1,000 for Mind - including £380 in matched funding from the Society.

It’s a cause close to Damien’s heart as his wife is a mental health nurse, and some of his friends and family have been affected by mental health issues.

Damien said: “I am planning to enter another Marathon by the end of the year, and have applied for the 2016 London Marathon to raise further funds for Mind.”
