Society raises almost £500 for ill local baby

The Society’s branch in Norwich held a charity day which raised £500 on behalf of an ill local baby, with funds split between Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Great Ormond Street.

“Emmie-Rae Barker is a local baby who has over six different heart conditions, and at six months old had still not been able to go home. Last month she had a major operation that they were trying not to do as she is so tiny but due to her ongoing condition the operation had to take place,” said Stacey Rodgers, assistant manager at the Norwich branch.

“Pleased to say that is was successful after a low survival chance. The week after the operation Emmie-Rae went home, where she is currently recovering well.

“During our charity day in the branch, at 6/7 Guildhall Hill in Norwich, we held baby photo competitions in the branch and gave out balloons and goody bags throughout the day. In total we raised almost £500, alongside matched funding from the Society.”
