Society colleagues volunteer at local careers week
North East primary school pupils have been learning about the world of work with help from Society volunteers.
Joanna and Victoria from our branch in Blyth used their volunteering leave during careers week at St Stephen’s RC Primary School in Longbenton.
Every colleague at the Society can take up to seven hours’ paid leave each year to help in their community.
At St Stephen’s, the team helped pupils to better understand the links between school and work and explained the range of potential careers available to them.
Mr Fallon, Headteacher at St Stephen’s RC Primary School, said: “I would like to thank Joanna and Victoria for taking part and supporting the school at our recent careers week event. The children had a fantastic week learning about a day in the life at Leeds Building Society, and hearing about potential future career prospects. We understand that Joanna and Victoria’s time is valuable, and really appreciate the effort they put in to accommodate us and make a difference to our school. We look forward to meeting with them again at our next careers event.”
