LBS 1 day fundraiser nets almost £1,400 for Our Milo

Colleagues from Leeds Building Society branches and offices across the North East have joined forces to raise almost £1,400 in a day for the Our Milo appeal.

The appeal is to raise money for a sensory room for two-year-old Milo Browne, of North Tyneside, who has a range of complex health needs.

Four Leeds Building Society colleagues completed a one-day, 56-mile cycle challenge around the mutual's branches in the North East.

Regional Manage Andy Medling, Blyth/Morpeth Branch Manager Jonathan Epworth, and Customer Service Advisers Mark Fairley and Paul Errington, from North Shields and Morpeth/Wallsend branches respectively, spent Friday, 4th July in the bike saddle, pedalling from Morpeth to Durham, and calling in on the way at the Society's branches at Blyth, Whitley Bay, North Shields, South Shields, Silverlink Business Park, Wallsend, Newcastle and Chester-le-Street.

Colleagues at these branches, and Leeds Building Society's office at Silverlink, also ran raffles, tombolas and cake sales, and joined exercise bike challenged to raise a total of £1,390.59.

This takes to £2,295.49 the total raised so far this year by colleagues of the Society in the North East, who pledged all the cash they could generate from 2014 fundraising to the Our Milo appeal.

"Friday was a fantastic day and we're thrilled by the total amount raised to boost our running total so far this year," said Nicola Irving, the manager of Leeds Building Society's North Shields branch, and a longstanding friend of Milo's mum, Laura Davidson.

The Our Milo appeal aims to raise more than £15,000 for life-changing sensory equipment for Milo, whose mental and physical development has been delayed by his condition, which is so rare it remains undiagnosed.

All the North East branches are continuing to sell Milo wristbands, for a £1 donation each.

Donations for Our Milo can be made at Leeds Building Society's branches in the North East, or also via justgiving at
