Overnight Marathon raises over 1,000 pounds for charity
A Customer Service Adviser at Leeds Building Society’s Epsom branch power-walked 26.2 miles around London to raise funds for a breast cancer charity.
Kelly Urquhart stayed up all night to successfully complete the Moonwalk London in eight hours, and raised £1,300 for Walk the Walk - including £400 in matched funding from Leeds Building Society.
Kelly and 16 fellow walkers, called ‘The Plumb Tarts,’ power-walked the Marathon from Clapham Common through Battersea Park, along the South Bank and crossing Tower Bridge over 26.2 miles. The combined fundraising total for the group is £5,500 so far.
Kelly said: “I feel so proud to have taken part in the event as part of our team of 17 and 15,000 people in total. The atmosphere was electric, despite the chilly weather and lack of sleep.
“We chose to support the Walk the Walk charity as we all know someone who has had breast cancer.
“I am delighted to have raised £1,300 in in total, and would like to thank everyone who has sponsored me and Leeds Building Society for providing matched funding.
“We have already made plans for our next Walk the Walk event – from London to Brighton.”
