Dewsbury advisor running the Great North Run for Prostate Cancer UK
A Customer Service Advisor from Leeds Building Society's Dewsbury branch is taking part in this Sunday's Great North Run to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
Amy Marsden said: "I am taking part with my dad, partner, sister, brother-in-law and cousin and we are hoping to raise £500 between us.
"We have chosen to run for this charity as my Grandad had prostate cancer for 10 years, and died in February 2013. Since his death we have done a variety of events in his memory for the charity."
The Great North Run, the world's leading half marathon, was first staged in 1981 when just over 12,000 people took part on the 13.1 mile course from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields. In 2014 entries totalled 57,000 people.
Last year the event made history as it became the first International Association of Athletics Federations event in the world to welcome its millionth finisher.
