Society volunteers get Christmas all wrapped up in Peterborough
Four volunteers from Leeds Building Society’s Peterborough branch helped ease the stress for last-minute Christmas shoppers by wrapping gifts at their local shopping centre.
Shoppers at Queensgate in the city centre could have their Christmas presents wrapped in return for a donation to Bloodwise, the UK’s biggest blood cancer charity.
The team were taking advantage of the Society’s volunteering scheme, which allows all colleagues a day’s paid leave each year to help in the community.
Junaid Hussain, assistant manager at the Peterborough branch, organised the day and said: “The present wrapping was great fun and we all enjoyed it.
“The shoppers were grateful and generously donated £200 in total to Bloodwise.”
