Leeds Building Society celebrates 40 years in Gloucester
Leeds Building Society’s branch in Gloucester is inviting customers old and new to join it in celebrating a big birthday.
The Society has been helping the people of Gloucester to save and have the home they want since 1977.
To celebrate its 40th birthday the branch, at 43 Northgate Street, is holding a party on Friday 23rd June.
This will be attended by Councillor Paul Toleman, The Sheriff and Deputy Mayor of Gloucester, from 1pm.
Leeds Building Society also will be making a birthday donation to three local good causes. Visitors can vote for their favourite charity to decide which receives the largest share.
“Our team will be decorating the branch and giving cakes and goody bags to members and any other locals who want to come by and join in our celebrations,” said Janice Green, Leeds Building Society’s Gloucester Branch Manager.
“We will also be running a charity vote where customers can vote for one of three local charities. The good causes we have chosen to support are Cotswold Down Syndrome, Motor Neurone Disease Association Severn Area and Rescue Association.
“Voting will open on Friday and continue until 7th July. The charities will receive £300, £200 and £100 for first, second and third place respectively.”
When Leeds Building Society first opened a branch in Gloucester in 1977 the average UK house price was £16,493. The average price today for a semi-detached property in Gloucester is £250,698.
