Samaritans is our new charity partner. Through this partnership we aim to raise £250,000 by 2020 to help Samaritans to be there when it matters.

Who are Samaritans

Samaritans provides a safe space to talk for anyone who needs it. Whoever you are, however you feel, whatever life’s done to you, you can talk to Samaritans.

They won’t judge – they’ll simply listen to what you have to say and help you find a way to cope with what life’s thrown at you.

They are available round the clock, every single day of the year, for anyone who is struggling to cope.

Why we've partnered with them

We’re a mutual, founded on the principle of people helping people.

Every 6 seconds someone contacts Samaritans for help. Their volunteers responded to more than 5.7 million calls in 2016

The reasons for people getting in touch are varied, but it is not just suicide, and these issues affect the lives of our members, colleagues, and our communities.

By raising £250,000 by 2020 we will support Samaritans so they can continue to be there when it matters.

How can you join us in support

From 2018 Samaritans will be one of our new beneficiaries.

The Society gives all savings members the option to donate the pence amount of their interest received each year (up to a maximum of 99p) to charity through our “Your Interest in Theirs” scheme.

If you’d like to sign up for the scheme simply pop into branch or give us a call.

We’ll also be holding fundraising events in our branches.

You can also follow our partnership journey on social media (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) to find out how you can be involved.
