Fraud Clinics: learn how to protect yourself from scams
Published: 18 November 2025
With over three million cases of fraud in the UK last year and with financial scams becoming more sophisticated, it’s no surprise 42% of our members told us they’re worried about being targeted.
We heard you – and we’re doing something about it.
Free Fraud Clinics
We’ve trained our teams to deliver free Fraud Clinics at all 51 of our UK branches. Whether you want to brush up on your scam-spotting skills or need a confidence boost with your finances, we’re here to help.
These friendly, approximately 30-minute sessions will cover the most common types of scams, like:
• Online banking and card fraud
• Scam phone calls and emails
• APP (Authorised Push Payment) fraud
• And even scams you could get through your own letterbox
Because everyone has different concerns, we’ll tailor every session to focus on what matters to you.
As Graham Binns, our Head of Branch Network, put it:
“We want to help our members and the general public feel more confident about how to protect themselves from financial crime and give them the tools and knowledge to spot potential scams.”
Open to everyone
Our Fraud Clinics are open to everyone – whether you’re a member or not. Just pop into your local branch or give them a ring to book a session.
You can find your nearest branch using our branch finder. And if you’d like to learn more about staying safe from fraud, take a look at the information on our website.

Swansea member outsmarts scam thanks to Fraud Clinic
A valuable visit
A gentleman who attended our Swansea branch’s Fraud Clinic put his new knowledge into action almost immediately.
The scam attempt
Soon after the session, he received a text claiming he had missed a parking charge payment, with a link urging urgent action.
Recognising the signs
Thanks to tips from the clinic - like looking out for suspicious links, unknown numbers and urgent language - he instantly knew it was a scam and didn’t engage.
Reporting to protect others
Rather than just deleting it, he reported the message to help raise awareness and prevent others from falling victim.
He shared that the clinic made him far more alert to fraudulent messages and gave him the confidence to stay safe.
So far in 2025, we’ve run 421 Fraud Clinics, helping people spot the warning signs and protect themselves and their loved ones. These sessions are free, practical and open to everyone.
See you there!
