Our approach to holiday lets
In some areas, the benefits of tourism are outweighed by too many holiday lets making homes less available for first time buyers. We want to play our part to change this.
That’s why we’ve worked with North Norfolk District Council and North Yorkshire Council to set up a 12 month trial of declining new loans for holiday let homes in these areas.
This follows a similar decision in 2022, when we became the first national mortgage provider to stop funding purchases of second residential homes. This allowed us to instead increase lending to people getting on the property ladder.
